Transport Modelling

Newbury Racecourse wished to develop land surplus to racing operations for 1,450 dwellings, a hotel and commercial uses. SMA undertook the complex transport modelling of a congested urban network using TRANSIT, Linsig, ARCADY and S-Paramics software packages for both race day and non race day scenarios. The modelling results helped to inform the package of Section 106 Planning Obligations and the phasing of their implementation. SMA also prepared the Transport Assessment and assisted with public exhibitions about this major scheme, which was granted Planning Consent in December 2009.
