Our Story

How It All Started

Stuart Michael Associates (SMA) was founded in 1988 and remains proudly independent, owned and led by its directors. From our headquarters in Thatcham, Berkshire, we’ve grown steadily while staying true to our original values; providing quality, commitment, and a client-focused approach.

Over the past 38 years, SMA has successfully completed 7,500 projects across the UK; ranging from small, one-off commissions to large-scale, multi-million-pound developments. Our work spans both the public and private sectors, supporting everything from residential schemes and infrastructure upgrades to major strategic land promotions.

What sets us apart is our combination of commercial awareness, technical expertise, and a proactive, hands-on approach.
