Delivering a Vision for Sustainable Infrastructure
Client: Arnold White Energy
SMA played a key role in the successful planning and approval of this renewable energy scheme, located south of Leighton Buzzard in Bedfordshire. The proposals feature the development of an innovative energy park, incorporating a solar array, wind turbine, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and an EV charging station with an integrated coffee outlet. To support the development, the scheme also includes construction of a new roundabout on the A505, providing safe and convenient access for all vehicles using the site and, to maintain flow of traffic along the A505.
Recognising the sites location within the Green Belt, SMA delivered comprehensive technical reports covering flood risk and drainage, utilities, and transport to support a planning application for the site south of Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, situated within the Green Belt. Approved in 2024, the development will create and exemplar renewable energy park, setting a benchmark for sustainable energy generation.
Designed with carbon neutrality at its core, the energy park aligns with the UK Government’s Climate Change agenda and contributes meaningfully to national renewable energy targets. Beyond its environmental credentials, the development exemplifies the practical integration of green technology, infrastructure, and user convenience—setting a new standard for sustainable energy parks across the UK.
