(August 2012). Planning permission has been granted for a micro park and ride site for 150 vehicles at Reading Rugby Club. SMA provided transportation advice as part of the planning application for the park and ride site, which will reduce peak hour traffic flows through congestion hotspots in Reading.

New Lidl Store in Kent

(August 2012). SMA has assisted Lidl GmbH (UK) to gain planning permission for a large food store (1,918 square metres gross food area) in Sevenoaks, Kent. SMA’s engineering team produced an air quality assessment, transport assessment, access design and costings of Section 278 works.

Exam Success

(July 2012) Chris Davies, Senior Structural Technician at SMA, has recently been awarded a first class BEng honours degree in Civil and Environmental studies from the University of West London. Chris has been studying part-time for the past five years and 2012 has been particularly busy for him, as in addition to taking his final exams, he has also recently married and moved house.

SMA Chairman, Stuart Atkinson, commented “SMA has a policy of assisting staff with their academic studies and professional qualifications, through sponsorship, day release and in-house training. I’m delighted to hear that Chris’s hard work has paid off with the award of a first class honours degree.”
