Advice and Support on Planning Obligations & Conditions

In many instances, development proposals require some form of improvements to the local road network, either in the form of a new site access, junction improvements, public transport infrastructure or new pedestrian/cycle facilities. These are usually completed under Section 278 of the Highways Act, although can also be via a Section 106 Agreement if Local Authorities require contributions towards new infrastructure.

At SMA we have experience in acting on behalf of Client, to negotiate mutually acceptable Planning Conditions and Planning Obligations, advise upon the most appropriate Agreements and provide support on applications to amend or discharge Planning Conditions.

Our engineers also provide highway design support, including the preparation of detailed drawings to enable works under Sections 38 and 278 of the Highways Act. Once approval has been obtained from the Highway Authority, we can assist with the contract administration and tender evaluation associated with the delivery of the works on site as well as providing experienced site supervision.
