Blog - 2016 in Summary…

2016 was yet another exciting and successful year for SMA and many of its Clients. Some notable successes were:

  • Planning consent granted for more than 400 homes within Tendring District (Essex) across 3 sites;
  • Completion of detailed S.38 and S.278 design services on key sites in Wokingham, Fleet, Basingstoke and Winnersh, delivering much needed housing and infrastructure;
  • The commissioning of Lidl’s new Regional Distribution Centre in Southampton (SMA provided transportation and highways construction advice);
  • Planning consents secured on several food retail sites in Hampshire, Dorset and West Berkshire;
  • Strategic sites moving forward with emerging allocations in development plans (SMA assisted with the technical evidence base on Transportation, Flood Risk and Infrastructure Planning).

The company also grew in 2016, with Martin Ohrland, Dave Wiseman and Mark Smyth being appointed Directors and joining the executive board. There were also a number of other new staff joining the company, across our transportation, drainage and civils teams.
SMA are looking forward to another rewarding year ahead with new contracts promising more success in 2017 and continued growth of the business.
