One way of reducing the costs of travelling by car is to ‘car share’ or ‘liftshare’. As well as saving you the money you will also help the environment by reducing your carbon footprint. It’s also a great way to meet new people and make new friends!

Car sharing can be done travelling to work, going shopping, on the school run – in fact on any journey you make!

Why not try it out, to search for other people travelling on similar routes to you? There are  public car share databases which enable you to search for journey matches and these are all FREE to use:

National Events

Earth Day occurs on the 22nd April every year. Founded in 1970, it mobilises people across the globe to shape and protect the planet. The theme for 2027 is ‘Food For Our Planet’. Throughout April, there will be events and fundraising campaigns to support healthier food systems which connect human health, thriving ecosystems, and resilient communities. This gives us an opportunity to think critically about the source of our food, how it affects people, the environment, and how we can live more sustainably.

Travel Plan

As part of your new community, a Travel Plan has been requested by Surrey County Council.  So, what is a Travel Plan you may ask?

A Travel Plan is a document which identifies sustainable travel methods available to residents, such as yourself, as alternatives to travelling by car. The Travel Plan also includes travel targets which have been agreed with Surrey County Council.

The main aims are simple:

  • To reduce the number of single occupancy vehicle trips from the development and increase sustainable journeys.
  • To promote sustainable travel, making it simpler and more appealing.

These aims will be tracked over a 5-year period, during which, you may see people conducting travel surveys. By completing these travel surveys you may opt in for a chance to win a Sustainable Travel Voucher worth £50, redeemable against a Decathlon e-gift card, Falcon or White bus Bus-Pass, or a National Railcard.

Residential Travel Pack

As part of your new community, a Residential Travel Pack has been created. This Pack highlights local sustainable transport opportunities and discusses the benefits of greener, smarter, travel. Each household has received a Pack, however, a digital copy can be found below.

Click here to view the Residential Travel Pack for the Chilsey Grange development.

Sustainable Travel Newsletter

Alongside the Residential Travel Pack, newsletters will be distributed to all residents. The newsletter provides up-to-date travel information, such as updates to bus timetables and events accessible on foot, bicycle, bus, or train. Please find your recent newsletters below:
