SMA’s Super-Fit Staff

(September 2012) Three SMA consultants have demonstrated their ‘super-fitness’ this month in a series of personal challenges.

Martin at the finish   Nicci Half Ironman

Mike Russell, Associate Director in the Infrastructure Design Team, completed the Reading half marathon in 1 hour 57 minutes and plans to run another half marathon in Basingstoke next month. Senior Transport Planner and Triathlete, Nicola Clay, took part in a ‘Half Ironman Triathlon’ in Henley on Thames, involving a 1.9k swim, 56 mile cycle ride and 13.1k (half marathon) run. Nicola finished in a total time of 5 hours 2 minutes, coming second in her age group and 5th woman over all. Last but not least, on September 23rd, Martin Ohrland, Associate Director, ran the first of seven half marathons planned over seven consecutive weekends. Martin is raising money for CLIC Sargent, a children’s cancer charity that is helping his cousin’s 14 month old son recover from cancer of the kidney. Donations to CLIC Sargent can be made online at http://www.justgiving.com/MartinsMadChallenge.
